UMass Boston's Contemporary Marketing graduate certificate program is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in today's competitive marketing landscape. Marketing is being redefined every day in a world of rapid innovation, fast-paced media, big data, and global competition, and the demand for outstanding marketing professionals has never been stronger. Through a combination of coursework and practical experience, you will hone your skills in areas such as market research, advertising, digital marketing, and branding.

*Course credit from a certificate will count toward a graduate degree should you choose to continue.

In this program, you will:

How to Apply

Applicants must meet general graduate admission requirements in addition to the following program-specific requirements:

  • Online application and application fee
  • GRE/GMAT not required
  • Current résumé highlighting professional and academic experience
  • Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended (United States bachelor's or equivalent required)
  • One (1) letters of recommendation from professional or academic references
    • Applicants must provide the name and email address for one (1) reference as part of the online application. Those references will receive an email notification directing them to a secure site to submit their recommendation. If references prefer to type a traditional letter, it should be sent as a PDF attachment referencing the applicant's name, student ID number, and program of interest to GADocs@umb.edu.
  • Statement of intent essay explaining your goals and reasons for applying to the program
  • International applicants: additional documentation required

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Deadlines & Cost

Deadlines: April 15 for summer, June 15 for fall, or December 1 for spring.

Application Fee: The nonrefundable application fee is $75. UMass Boston alumni and current students that plan to complete degree requirements prior to graduate enrollment can submit the application without paying the application fee.

Complete 15 credits from five courses including four required courses and one elective.

Additional course: Students without a business degree or have less than three years of experience in marketing must also complete MBAMKT 670 - Marketing Management.
