UMass Boston Commencement Ceremonies
Commencement exercises for the Class of 2026 will be held on May 27 & 28, 2026. The class of 2026 is comprised of students graduating in December '25, May '26 and August '26. All commencement ceremonies will take place on the UMass Boston campus.
Students planning to graduate and participate in the May 2026 ceremony must first apply to graduate through WISER. The deadline to apply is March 13, 2026.
Please note: The deadline to apply for a December '25 graduation term has passed.
2026 Commencement Ceremonies

Graduate Commencement Ceremony
Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.
The graduate commencement ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Procession of graduates begins at 2:30 p.m. Candidates for doctoral and master’s degrees, certificates of advanced graduate study (CAGS and EDS), and post-master’s certificates will be invited to participate in this program with the Chancellor, Deans and faculty.
*Doctoral candidates: please note that we are holding a separate ceremony for the doctoral hooding. The hooding ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Procession of doctoral candidates will begin at 9:45 a.m. You are encouraged to attend both the doctoral hooding ceremony and the graduate commencement ceremony.
Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony
Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 9:30 a.m.
The undergraduate commencement ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026. Procession of graduates begins at 8:45 a.m. Candidates for bachelor’s degrees will be invited to participate in this program with the Chancellor, Deans, and faculty.
Important Information
Both ceremonies will take place at UMass Boston, Campus Center Lawn, 100 Morrissey Boulevard, Boston, MA 02125.
Commencement is outdoors rain or shine on the Campus Center Lawn. Graduate and guest seating areas are NOT tented. Review the weather forecast and be prepared for all scenarios (rain gear, sunblock).
At both ceremonies, graduates will have their names called and receive diploma covers. Diplomas will be mailed at a later date.
