Flutist Ashley Addington is an active performer and teacher in the Boston area. A versatile and engaging musician, Ashley brings a thoughtful, collaborative, and elegant approach to her performances. She is a member of Sound Icon and the Plymouth Philharmonic and regularly performs with Grammy-winning Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), Odyssey Opera, and Callithumpian Consort. Other notable recent engagements include performances with Rhode Island Philharmonic, Portland Symphony, Monadnock Music, and Emmanuel Music. 

A dedicated educator, Ashley is an Associate Lecturer at the University of Massachusetts Boston, the woodwind coach at Tufts University, and on the faculty at Milton Academy. Ashley’s teaching philosophy focuses on inspiring students to be confident and creative thinkers who are encouraged and guided on their path to becoming well-rounded and successful musicians. She has been the Guest Clinician for the Honors Flute Choir for the New Hampshire Band Directors Association and served as a Masterclass Teacher for the Annual Flute Masterclass sponsored by the Pappoutsakis Flute Competition.

A new music advocate, Ashley has recorded and premiered dozens of new works as a soloist and ensemble member. She enjoys connecting with composers to understand their process, the quick pace of learning new music, and playing a wide range of styles and sounds.

Ashley holds a MM and BM from The Butler School of Music at University of Texas at Austin. She studied with Marianne Gedigian and Robert Willoughby who both encouraged her to make meaningful music with every note.
