Gabriela Boscio Santos
Biography
Gabriela Boscio Santos (she/her) is the Associate Director of the Sustainable Solutions Lab (SSL) at UMass Boston, a collaborative research and action institute focused on keeping historically excluded people and communities safe and healthy in the face of climate change. There, she helps craft SSL’s direction, manage projects, and foster networks.

Degrees
Gabriela earned a B.S. in Environmental Studies with a minor in Sustainability from Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, and an M.S. in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability from the Blekinge Institute of Technology in Karlskrona, Sweden.
Additional Information
With more than 10 years of experience in the climate sector, she brings a multidisciplinary understanding of the complexity of climate change. Before joining the team at SSL, she was the Engagement Manager for Boston University Sustainability. Before that, she was the Climate Program Manager at NOAH (the Neighborhood of Affordable Housing) in East Boston, leading inclusive community-based climate resilience planning.
As a Puerto Rican resident of Chelsea (and formerly of East Boston), she is deeply invested in environmental justice and believes climate action and resilience must first address injustice to avoid replicating oppressive systems. She is an excellent communicator, facilitator, strategic thinker, and problem-solver who is motivated by the question, “What kind of future do we want to build together?”
