Greg Koman is an assistant professor in the School for the Environment at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He primarily observes large scale currents through mooring operations and regularly goes to sea to conduct research. Greg studies the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation as part of the Overturning in the Subpolar North Atlantic Program (OSNAP), which is an international trans-basin observing system across the entire North Atlantic subpolar gyre that has monitored fluxes of heat, mass, and freshwater since 2014.

 Greg comes to SFE from a postdoctoral investigator position at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). Greg maintains a role as a guest investigator at WHOI and is also a visiting assistant professor at the Sea Education Association.
