Personnel Committees

The Department Personnel Committee (DPC) and the College Personnel Committee (CPC) are significant faculty groups that evaluate the contributions of faculty members within departments and colleges in the areas of research, scholarship, creative activity, teaching, and service. DPC members are elected by their departments according to departmental bylaws. CPC members are typically appointed by the dean of their college in consultation with a college's senate or equivalent governing body in the college.

Serving on a DPC or CPC is an honor and a responsibility. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance. Discussions among committee members are expected to be conducted with deep respect for one another and for the candidate whose material is being reviewed. All DPC and CPC members should familiarize themselves with the Academic Personnel Policy document (Red Book) and the Faculty Staff Union contract. The department chair and the DPC chair work closely together to ensure that the process and timeline are followed.
